Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has urged politicians from Nigeria’s Northern Region to hold off on presidential ambitions until 2031.
Speaking at a two-day citizen engagement forum in Kaduna, Akume praised President Bola Tinubu's achievements in office, noting significant progress in security, agriculture, infrastructure, foreign policy, and national unity.
Akume said Tinubu had been fair in appointments and development projects across all regions, especially the North, citing major infrastructure like the Sokoto–Bagary Super Highway and proposed roads across northern states.
He emphasized that Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope Agenda" is already delivering results and should not be disrupted.
He cautioned Northern politicians against backing any movement that might derail national progress, saying Tinubu deserves re-election in 2027 based on his performance so far.
Akume concluded by urging all Nigerians to support the President’s ongoing reforms and leadership vision until at least 2031
