Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alongside other prominent political figures, is currently attending a high-level closed-door meeting in Abuja as consultations intensify over the formation of a new opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, reportedly chaired by former Senate President David Mark, is said to involve deliberations on whether key stakeholders within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should remain within the party or fully align with the emerging coalition platform.
Present at the meeting are several influential political leaders, including:
Former National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, , former Governor of Jigawa State Sule Lamido,
Aminu Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State, Liyel Imoke, former Governor of Cross River State, Babangida Aliyu, former Governor of Niger State,Sam Egwu, former Governor of Ebonyi State, among others.
Sources close to the meeting say the discussions are centered on crafting a united opposition front to challenge the ruling party in 2027, with ongoing efforts to consolidate disgruntled political interests under a new political umbrella.
The closed-door session is part of a series of strategic consultations among opposition leaders, as talks progress toward the official unveiling of the coalition platform.
