BREAKING: Dele Momodu Dumps PDP, Joins ADC After Atiku’s Exit - The Alternative News

Veteran journalist and former presidential aspirant, Chief Dele Momodu, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s takeover by antidemocratic forces.

In a letter dated July 17, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East LGA of Edo State, Momodu announced his immediate departure from the party.

“Our party has undeniably been seized by antidemocratic elements... in broad daylight,” he stated.

Momodu declared his alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it a “new coalition party” that better reflects democratic values.

His defection, following that of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, marks another major loss for the PDP and intensifies political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Momodu joined the PDP in 2021 and was active in national political discourse. He also thanked the party’s local leadership for their support over the years.
