Former Minister of Power, Works, and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has hailed the late President Muhammadu Buhari as an exemplar of discipline and punctuality, revealing that Buhari was never late to cabinet meetings throughout his tenure.

Speaking in a tribute following the former president’s passing, Fashola, also a former Lagos State governor, said Buhari embodied the core values of order, punctuality, and discipline, which he insisted are essential to any serious government.

 “What often goes unnoticed in public commentary was Buhari’s unwavering commitment to the values that bind any serious society, like order and punctuality,” Fashola said.

He described Buhari as “perhaps the most punctual public servant ever encountered,” adding that his time consciousness sent a powerful message about the seriousness of governance.

 “He was never late to cabinet meetings, always respecting the time of others. It may seem a small thing, but in governance, it is everything. It sets tone,” he noted.

Fashola also praised Buhari’s leadership style, which, he said, was rooted in trust and autonomy.

 “President Buhari was not a man to micromanage; instead, he gave you the space and the trust to deliver. With that trust, however, came the highest expectations of discipline, results, and honesty.”

Fashola’s tribute adds another dimension to the legacy of Buhari, portraying him as a leader who may have led quietly, but consistently demonstrated core principles in practice.
