Buhari’s Burial Date Shifted to Tuesday as Family Cites Logistical Reasons - The Alternative News

The burial of former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has been rescheduled from Monday to Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State made the announcement on Monday while addressing journalists. He explained that the change in date followed consultations with Buhari’s family and associates in London.

“We have made consultations with his family and people around him in London. We have concluded that the body will arrive tomorrow by 12 p.m.,” the governor said.

He added that the former president's remains will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

DAILY POST reports that Buhari’s body is currently being flown from the United Kingdom, where he died on Sunday after a prolonged, undisclosed illness.

To honour the late leader, the Katsina State Government had earlier declared Monday a public holiday to allow residents to mourn. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also announced a seven-day national mourning period, during which all national flags will fly at half-mast across the country.
