Gov Abiodun Appoints Olubori Akinleye as SUBEB Board Secretary - The Alternative News

In a move aimed at ensuring leadership continuity and operational efficiency within the Ogun State Civil/Public Service, Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of Mr. Olubori Akinleye as the Board Secretary of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Mr. Akinleye’s appointment follows the statutory retirement of the former Board Secretary, Dr. Mukaila Lawal, in May 2025.

A statement by the Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, indicated that the appointment was made in line with the provisions of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board Law, 2005, which also reflects the government’s commitment to merit-based progression, as Mr. Akinleye was selected from a pool of Directors who successfully completed the Ogun State Executive Leadership Pipeline Development Programme, a prerequisite for top-tier civil service appointments.

Prior to this new role, Mr. Akinleye served as the Assistant Director (Education) and TVET Specialist at the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board.

He holds an NCE in Technical Education (Automobile Technology) from the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos (1992), and a B.Sc. (Ed) in Industrial Technical Education (Automobile) from the University of Benin (1997).

Akinleye began his career in the Ogun State Civil Service in June 2007 after an inter-state transfer from Lagos State and was promoted to Grade Level 15 as Assistant Director in July 2019.

A seasoned education officer, Mr. Akinleye has served in various capacities under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, garnering extensive experience in the sector.

Congratulating the appointee, the Head of Service, urged him to exhibit exemplary leadership, professionalism, and dedication in advancing the “Building Our Future Together” agenda of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
