A government contractor, Mr. Lucky Ugbo, has been abducted by armed men in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to PUNCH Metro, Ugbo was kidnapped around 8:45 p.m., over four days ago, at his residence along Isah Road. The abductors reportedly contacted his family on Sunday, initially demanding a ransom of ₦200 million, which was later reduced to ₦100 million by Monday morning.
Residents close to the scene recounted the chilling moment the gunmen struck. A source said the attackers, dressed like security agents, had laid an ambush from an uncompleted building near the victim’s house.
“He was just returning home when the gunmen, pretending to be security agents, intercepted him as his wife came out to open the front door. They fired multiple shots into the air before dragging him into the darkness,” the eyewitness said.
“Most of us watched from a distance, thinking it was a police operation,” another resident added.
Since the incident, the kidnappers have reportedly made two phone calls to the victim’s wife, with the second call demanding a reduced ransom of ₦100 million.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the abduction.
“Yes, it’s confirmed. The police are intensifying efforts to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victim,” Edafe stated.
