1. General Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Maiduguri

Former Name: Maiduguri Airport

Renamed: June 1, 2023, by the Tinubu-led Federal Government

Reason: Part of a broader national initiative to honour prominent Nigerians by renaming 15 federal airports.

Significance: Highlights Buhari’s military and political prominence.





2. Muhammadu Buhari Trauma Centre, Maiduguri

Location: Inside the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH)

Capacity: 150 beds

Commissioned: 2020 (virtually by Buhari during COVID-19)

Purpose: Specialized care for trauma and emergency victims, especially relevant due to the insurgency impact in the region.





3. Muhammadu Buhari Academy, Maiduguri

Established: 2019

Type: Boarding school for orphans of Boko Haram victims

Facilities: 60 classrooms and 7 hostel blocks

Initiated by: Former Governor Kashim Shettima (now Vice President)

Completed by: Governor Babagana Zulum
