Labour Party Chieftain Blasts ADC Coalition, Labels It "Coalition of Corruption" - The Alternative News

Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, a prominent chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) and convener of the Rescue Movement for New Nigeria, has harshly criticized the newly formed political coalition spearheaded by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a “coalition of corruption” rather than a platform for national rescue.

In a strongly worded statement on Sunday, Joseph warned Nigerians against falling for what he called a rebranded alliance of political actors responsible for the country's deep-rooted challenges.

“It is deeply insulting to our collective intelligence,” he said. “These same failed leaders have rebranded themselves overnight, claiming they want to ‘rescue’ Nigeria, from what, if not the very destruction they orchestrated?”

Joseph accused the coalition of being driven by desperation and self-preservation, not genuine reform. He alleged that the figures behind it had opportunities in the past to improve Nigeria but instead enriched themselves and contributed to the nation’s decline.

“The coalition is not about values or vision. It is about recycling political actors who have long betrayed the people,” he stated.

Taking direct aim at key coalition figures, Joseph criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rauf Aregbesola. He claimed Atiku’s PDP remains engulfed in internal crisis, Obi has failed to lead the Labour Party effectively, El-Rufai is embittered over not securing a federal appointment, and Aregbesola left no significant legacy in office.

“What we are witnessing is not a coalition for Nigeria, but a coalition of greed and recycled failures,” he said. “It is the same old wine in a new bottle. Nigerians must not be fooled.”

Joseph emphasized that true change will not come from “defecting politicians or recycled coalitions” but from ordinary Nigerians, especially youths, market traders, and religious communities who have borne the brunt of decades of misgovernance.
