Okpebholo Vs Ighodalo: Supreme Court Adjourns Judgment Indefinitely - The Alternative News

The Supreme Court has indefinitely adjourned judgment in the legal dispute over the Edo State governorship election. The case centers around Senator Monday Okpebholo, who was declared governor-elect, and Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, who is challenging the result.

During the hearing, Ighodalo’s legal team, led by Ken Mosia (SAN), urged the court to declare him the winner, claiming he secured the majority of lawful votes.

However, INEC’s counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), called for the dismissal of the appeal, accusing Ighodalo and the PDP of inconsistency. He argued that they initially labeled the election unlawful and could not simultaneously seek victory from the same process they discredited.

Justice Garba Lawal, who presided over the panel, stated that the judgment date would be communicated later.
