Peter Obi Best Positioned to Lead Opposition Coalition in 2027 - ADC Chieftain - The Alternative News

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Peter Okeh, has thrown his weight behind Peter Obi as the most competent and widely accepted candidate to lead the emerging opposition coalition in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki on Sun
day, Dr. Okeh described Obi, the former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, as a unifying figure with nationwide appeal and deep grassroots support through the Obidient Movement.

“Peter Obi has all it takes to win the election. He has solid grassroots followers. He’s traveled more, reached more Nigerians, and learned vital lessons from the 2023 experience,” Okeh said.

The ADC stalwart argued that the current state of Nigeria’s economy, worsened by poverty, hunger, corruption, and insecurity, makes Obi the ideal candidate to lead a broad-based movement capable of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also said the next election will be a battle between the APC and suffering Nigerians, not just political parties, and stressed the importance of ensuring the South completes its presidential rotation, referencing Nigeria’s informal power-sharing arrangement.

“Nigerians have now tasted the bitter pill of this government, and they are more united than ever to bring about change,” he added.

Welcoming the formation of the opposition coalition spearheaded by ADC and other political leaders, Okeh praised the alliance as a formidable and timely response to Nigeria’s deepening governance crisis.

“This coalition is a major breakthrough in our political history. It’s the voice of reason against the darkness the APC government has plunged Nigerians into. In 2027, no one will get a free ride to rig elections.”

He expressed confidence that with Peter Obi at the helm, the coalition could galvanize national support and offer a credible alternative to the APC-led administration.
