Royal Support Boosts Development in Ogere, Ipara - The Alternative News

In a significant boost to grassroots development efforts, two respected traditional rulers in Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, the Ologere of Ogere, Oba Obafemi Saliu, and the Onipara of Ipara, Oba Taiwo Taiwo, have been commended for their visionary support of local planning initiatives.

The monarchs were recognized for donating critical infrastructure to the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) to facilitate its operations within their communities. Oba Saliu provided a parcel of land for office development in Ogere, while Oba Taiwo offered office and residential buildings for OGPDPA staff in Ipara.

During appreciation visits to their respective palaces, the Acting General Manager of OGPDPA, Town Planner Itunu Jolaoluwa, praised the royal gesture, noting that the Authority’s physical presence in the area would enhance urban regulation, prevent flooding, reduce building collapses, and promote orderly and aesthetically pleasing development.

"The support from these traditional leaders will go a long way in strengthening the regulatory reach of OGPDPA, ensuring safer and more planned environments in Ogere and Ipara," Jolaoluwa said.

Oba Obafemi Saliu reiterated his commitment to the progress of Ogere, saying the land donation aligns with his broader vision of transforming the town into a hub of pride for its people, especially those in the diaspora.

"My major aim is to transform Ogere into a better place. I want indigenes in the diaspora to come home, and for that to happen, they must see visible, positive change," he stated.

Lending his voice, Oba Taiwo Taiwo expressed hope that OGPDPA’s operation in Ipara would enhance physical development and improve the general well-being of residents.

Both monarchs used the occasion to call on their indigenes abroad to invest in their hometowns, stressing that such contributions are vital to sustaining cultural identity and communal growth.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of awards of excellence to the two royal fathers, in recognition of their outstanding leadership and commitment to sustainable development, witnessed by members of their chiefs-in-council.
