Ngban village in Nyiev Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, was plunged into mourning as a family of three, a father, mother, and son, were laid to rest following separate attacks by suspected herdsmen.

According to reports gathered by Daily Post, the tragedy began with the killing of Mr. Iorhen, the family’s patriarch, during an earlier assault. His remains had been deposited in the mortuary, awaiting burial.

However, before the community could come to terms with his death, tragedy struck again. On Saturday, his wife, Mrs. Mlumun Iorhen, and their son, Terkimbi, were reportedly attacked and killed while working on their farm.

Residents say these killings reflect a disturbing pattern of escalating violence against farming communities in Guma and other parts of Benue State. The surge in attacks has led to widespread displacement, food insecurity, and deep psychological trauma among the rural population.

A community elder voiced the collective grief and frustration, stating, “This is the reality we face today, life has become unbearably harsh and unpredictable.”
