Ogun Begins Screening, CBT For Over 500 Intending Principals, Vice Principals - The Alternative News

 



In a move aimed at strengthening leadership in the education sector, the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has commenced screening exercise and Computer-Based Test (CBT) for 564 senior teachers and Zonal Secretaries, aspiring to become principals and vice principals.

Speaking, Chairman of the Commission, Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu, while addressing participants during the two- day exercise at Baptist Boys High School, Saje, Abeokuta, explained that it was to ensure merit-based selection among qualified officers already on Grade Level 16 and 17 respectively.

The Chairman, who revealed that 250 senior staff were shortlisted for the post of principal, while 314 were for the position of vice principal, urged participants  to conduct themselves responsibly, stressing that their performance in the exercise would determine their eventual postings.

According to him, the assessment will test participants’ knowledge of educational policies, school administration, curriculum planning, financial management, and staff supervision.




“TESCOM is not resting on its oars in raising the standard of school leadership. This process will directly impact the quality of teaching and learning, as well as the overall standard of education in Ogun State,” Sanyaolu said.

In their goodwill messages, the State Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Comrade Felix Agbesanwa, and the President of the All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Ogun State chapter, Mr. Adeniyi Adekoya, commended the State Government for the transparent process and commitment to raising educational standards.

Some of the participants, including Mrs. Mosurat Salami of Salau Abiola Comprehensive High School, Osiele, and Mr. Kolawole Oluajo, Zonal Secretary, Ipokia Local Government, expressed delight at being shortlisted, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in them if given the opportunity to serve as school heads.
