One Week After 22 Died on Lambata–Suleja Road, Another Truck Crash Kills Five in Niger State - The Alternative News

Barely a week after a fatal crash claimed 22 lives along the Lambata–Suleja axis in Niger State, another accident involving a trailer has killed five people and injured two others.

The latest crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, August 12, 2025. According to SaharaReporters, the victims were trapped under goods suspected to be chemicals. Their bodies have been deposited at the General Hospital, Suleja, while the two injured survivors were taken to a private clinic in Izom.

Confirming the incident, Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aishat Saadu, said the accident involved only one vehicle, a trailer.

On August 4, 2025, 22 people died and 20 others were injured in a separate accident on the Lapai–Lambata Road. That crash involved an articulated truck travelling from Kano to Lagos, carrying passengers and cattle, many of them traders from Zamfara State.

The frequency of fatal accidents along the Lambata–Suleja and Lapai–Lambata corridors has sparked growing safety concerns among motorists and residents.
