Police Arrest Security Guard for Stealing Valuables Worth N1.8 Million in Lagos - The Alternative News

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old security guard for allegedly burgling an apartment and carting away valuables worth N1.8 million.

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday.

According to him, operatives from the Iju Division apprehended the suspect after receiving a report from a resident of the Ifako area, who returned home on August 15 to discover his house had been broken into.

“Stolen items included a Sumec generator, a Fireman generator, a National air conditioner, and three air conditioner compressor engines, all valued at N1.8 million,” Hundeyin said.

He disclosed that detectives arrested the suspect within the same neighbourhood after investigations revealed he had conspired with others, still at large, to commit the crime.

Hundeyin added that the stolen items had been recovered, and efforts were ongoing to track down his accomplices.

He further stated that the case would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, assured residents that the command remained committed to bringing criminals to justice. He also advised employers to conduct thorough background checks before engaging the services of domestic staff.
