As part of efforts to increase the enrollment of pupils in Public Primary Schools across the State, the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has embarked on an enrollment drive aimed at sensitising parents and guardians.

Speaking during a-day programme at Kuto, Abeokuta, the State Coordinator of UBEC, Mr. Sola Badmus, explained that the initiative was designed to encourage parents and guardians to enroll their children in Public Primary Schools.

“It has been observed that there is low enrollment of pupils in our schools, especially in Abeokuta, the State capital.  If we can come out and inform parents about the importance of education and assure them that the schools are available and ready, they will be encouraged to enroll their children," he said.

Mr. Badmus noted that the sensitisation programme was deliberately scheduled during the third-term holiday period to allow  parents have the opportunity to make decisions before the new academic session begins, enjoining them to take advantage of the facilities that the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s  administration had provided in public schools, including computers, improved infrastructure and other educational resources.

Also speaking, Director of Social Mobilisation at SUBEB, Mr. Bodunrin Akinleye, said education remains the only sure path to success in life. He cited notable personalities such as Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Aremo Olusegun Osoba, who achieved greatness through education.

Mr. Akinleye urged the public, especially parents and guardians, to enroll their children to school.

“You don’t need to pay a dime to enroll your wards. Enrollment is absolutely free," he stressed.

Responding, one of the parents, Mrs. Kafayat Adekunjo, expressed her appreciation to the SUBEB and UBEC team for the sensitisation, promised to inform others about the importance of enrolling their children in school.
