Thugs Allegedly Destroy Tinubu’s 2027 Billboards in Ondo - The Alternative News

A support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused unidentified persons of vandalising billboards in Akure, Ondo State, promoting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

The Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT) said the incident occurred amid tensions between independent campaign groups for Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

GMT had recently rejected Aiyedatiwa’s directive that all support groups operate under a single platform known as Ondo for Tinubu 2027.

In a statement, GMT’s Director of Media and Publicity, Oyewamide Ojo, described the act as “deliberate and malicious.”

“The signposts, strategically installed on streetlights along the Airport Road to Oba-Ile corridor, were forcefully and cowardly taken down by faceless individuals,” Ojo said.

He added that GMT views the vandalism as “an assault on democracy, a slap in the face of free speech, and a deliberate attempt to erase the truth of the progress Nigeria is currently experiencing under Tinubu.”
