Why I Dumped SDP for APC – Senator Wadada - The Alternative News

Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West, has defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wadada met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday to formally announce his return to the ruling party.

The lawmaker, who secured his Senate seat under the SDP, is reportedly eyeing the Nasarawa governorship.

Explaining his move, Wadada described his earlier exit from the APC as “circumstantial” and not the result of any grievance with the party.

“It was just circumstantial, and I wouldn’t want to bore anybody about the circumstances that led to my departure from APC, because it came, and it’s now gone, I am still proud of SDP, but current developments do not warrant my continued stay. I am APC, not because SDP has offended me, but because the dynamism of life requires change," he said.

The senator dismissed the opposition’s ability to outshine Tinubu’s administration, declaring: “I haven’t seen any.”

He also pledged full support for the president’s re-election, insisting that “there is no vacancy in Aso Rock” until 2031.
