The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a fresh upward review of the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, effective September 1, 2025.
According to a statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, on Thursday, the new charges will apply only to applications processed within Nigeria.
Under the revised fees: A 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000 while a 64-page passport with 10-year validity will cost ₦200,000.
The NIS clarified that passport application fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year booklet, and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year option.
The Service explained that the adjustment was necessary to maintain the quality, security, and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring continued accessibility for citizens.
This development comes barely a year after the Federal Government approved an earlier upward review in August 2024, which took effect from September 1, 2024. At that time, the 32-page passport rose from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000, while the 64-page passport increased from ₦70,000 to ₦100,000.
The NIS maintained that the latest increment, like the previous one, was designed to sustain the high standards of the Nigerian passport and improve service delivery.
