Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has acknowledged the limitations of the Bola Tinubu administration in addressing all of Nigeria’s challenges, stating that even with two decades in power, no government could completely solve the country’s problems.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike said the government is focused on improving the quality of life for residents by prioritizing impactful and capital-intensive projects.

“I will not say here that every problem has been solved. All problems cannot be solved, even if this government stays for 20 years,” “But government is solving problems that will at least help to improve the lives of people," Wike stated. 

Responding to questions about the lack of formal commissioning for some projects, the minister explained that the administration selectively showcases major projects involving significant investments, rather than smaller undertakings.

“We take what we think are major, capital-intensive projects, ones where billions of naira have been spent, and showcase those. But when you’re talking about smaller projects, must we commission everything?” he asked.

Wike urged journalists to visit project sites across various sectors, including education and social development, to independently verify progress and partner with the government in informing the public.

“We are doing what will at least make a difference in the lives of the people, and that’s the whole point of governance,” he emphasized.
