IGP Redeploys Force PRO Adejobi to Delta Command as DCP Operations - The Alternative News

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the redeployment of the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the Delta State Police Command as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations (DCP Operations).

Adejobi, recently promoted to the rank of DCP by the Police Service Commission, will now oversee operational activities in one of the country’s most sensitive security theatres. His new assignment places him at the forefront of combating violent crimes and strengthening police-community relations across Delta State.

According to Force Headquarters, the posting is a strategic move reflecting the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to merit-based progression and deployment of top officers to areas where their expertise is most needed.

The redeployment also dispels media speculations suggesting that Adejobi was “controversially removed” as Force PRO. Police authorities clarified that the move is neither punitive nor unusual, but rather part of routine administrative restructuring.

A senior police source noted: “Deployment of officers is a normal administrative procedure in the Nigeria Police Force. DCP Adejobi’s professionalism, operational experience, and track record of service excellence made him a natural fit for this crucial role.”

Adejobi, who has served the Force in various capacities, is widely respected for his contributions to public communication, community policing, and operational management. His posting to Delta State is expected to further strengthen security operations in the region.
