Ogun State Government has commended some selected pupils of Public Primary School who represented the State at the recently concluded Southwest Debate Competition in Lagos.
The event, organised by LG news Academy in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Southwest Region and the Embassy of Ireland.
Receiving the participants in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Chairman of Ogun SUBEB, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, emphasized that the State Government’s continuous investment in the education sector has continued to yield positive results, reiterating government’s commitment to ensure that all pupils in the state have access to quality basic education.
The SUBEB boss lauded the pupils for making the State proud, urging them to sustain the tempo of academic excellence.
“The State Government led by Governor Dapo Abiodun is proud of you. The good people of Ogun State are proud of you. Keep the flag flying, as their is great reward in academic excellence,” Ifede said.
He also advised parents and guardians to nurture their wards, stressing that they would be the future leaders of the nation.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Abibat Ayinde, expressed gratitude to the State Government for the opportunity to represent the State, promising to remain a worthy ambassador always.
At the end of the competition, Ogun State emerged second, finishing behind Lagos, while Ekiti State came third respectively.
