The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Yusuf Atah, has dismissed reports suggesting that the northern region has withdrawn its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Monday by his media aide, Seyi Olorunsola, Atah described the claims as false, malicious, and divisive, saying they were the handiwork of political actors dissatisfied with the outcome of the 2023 elections.

 “This claim is not only baseless; it is disrespectful to the genuine sentiments and aspirations of millions of northerners who have benefited from the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the minister stated.

Atah insisted that the North remains solidly behind President Tinubu, adding that there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock Villa in 2027.”

He said the talk about the region rejecting Tinubu was a fabricated narrative aimed at creating disunity among Nigerians, emphasizing that the administration has initiated and completed numerous development projects in the North.

 “President Tinubu has brought meaningful development to the North, proving that the region has not been neglected,” he said.

The minister further noted that several Islamic clerics, traditional rulers, and community leaders have already pledged their support for Tinubu’s re-election, describing their endorsement as a testament to his inclusive style of leadership.

“To the northern people, I say: do not be swayed by the false rhetoric of failed and retired politicians whose only agenda is to reclaim access to the public purse,” Atah warned.

Expressing confidence in the president’s re-election prospects, Atah said Tinubu’s achievements across sectors and regions will speak for him in 2027.

“The president’s ongoing projects and policies have touched lives nationwide. Nigerians can see the difference,” he added.
