Reports have emerged suggesting that renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. (Dr.) Uma Ukpai, has passed away.

The news of his alleged death began circulating on social media early Monday, with several religious platforms and individuals posting tributes to the revered cleric, known for his decades-long evangelical ministry.

A preacher, Prophet Joel Ogebe, posted a cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

 “A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.”

Although Ogebe did not mention any name, the post immediately triggered speculation that he was referring to Rev. Ukpai, whose ministry headquarters is based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Shortly after, the Christian media platform Church Gist also shared a message on Facebook that appeared to confirm the report, stating:

 “A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR.”

As of the time of filing this report, no official confirmation has been issued by Ukpai’s family or the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association.

Rev. Uma Ukpai, aged 80, was one of Nigeria’s most respected evangelists, widely known for his crusades, humanitarian activities, and interdenominational outreach programmes that spanned over five decades.
