A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Kuje, Abuja, on Friday granted bail to human rights activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore; Aloy Ejimakor, a member of the legal team representing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu; Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu; and ten others.
The court granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
According to PUNCH Online, all thirteen defendants were arrested and arraigned before the court for alleged incitement of public disturbance and breach of peace in connection with the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest held in Abuja on Monday, October 20.
While Ejimakor, Emmanuel Kanu, and the other ten defendants were apprehended during the protest and subsequently remanded at the Kuje Correctional Facility, Sowore was arrested on October 23 at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja, after attending Kanu’s terrorism trial in a show of solidarity.
