The lawmaker representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ojema Ojotu, has officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ojotu, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Inland Waterways, announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during Tuesday’s plenary session.
The Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, who presided over the session, read Ojotu’s letter of defection before the House.
In the letter, the lawmaker attributed his decision to the prolonged internal crisis within the PDP, stating that after due consultations with his constituents, family, and political associates, he resolved to join the APC.
“After consultation with my constituents, family members and political associates, I have decided to dump the PDP for the APC,” Ojotu wrote.
