Legal luminary and politician, Barrister Niyi Aborisade, has reaffirmed his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, promising to deliver a people-oriented government founded on the progressive ideals of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Aborisade, who is the Mogaji of Ajagba Compound in Oke-Ofa Babasale, made the declaration during his 58th birthday celebration held at his Bodija country home in Ibadan.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Yemi Farounbi; arts and culture advocate, Prince Tunde Odunlade; Mr. Wasiu Abiola; and Hon. Yinka Taiwo, a former PDP chairman in Oyo State. Friends, associates, and political stakeholders were also in attendance.
Speaking with journalists, Aborisade expressed deep appreciation to his guests, describing their presence as a testament to loyalty and enduring friendship.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain commended the outcome of the party’s recent state congress, congratulating the newly elected executives and urging them to promote unity as the party prepares for the 2027 polls.
He also appealed to Nigerians, especially young voters, to participate actively in the democratic process by registering for and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that credible leadership begins with civic engagement.
“I am ready to serve the good people of Oyo State. My passion is to deliver the dividends of democracy, the Awolowo way, built on integrity, selfless service, and genuine concern for the welfare of the people," Aborisade declares
In a goodwill message, Ambassador Farounbi described Aborisade as “a good man with great intentions for the people,” expressing optimism that his 2027 ambition would become a reality.
