The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its nationwide strike after a series of high-level negotiations with government officials and industry stakeholders.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, PENGASSAN President, Festus Osifo, confirmed the decision, noting that the suspension followed a crucial meeting involving the National Security Adviser and the management of the Dangote Refinery. The meeting sought to address the union’s grievances that had triggered the industrial action.

Osifo admitted that some “grey areas” in the joint communiqué remained unresolved, as neither the government nor the refinery’s management could provide full clarification on certain contentious issues.

Despite the lingering concerns, he explained that the union decided to suspend the strike “in good faith” to allow room for the implementation of the agreed terms.
