The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will begin activities marking its 60th Anniversary and Award Ceremony with special religious services on Friday, October 24, and Sunday, October 26.

According to a statement by the Media and Publicity Committee of the anniversary, Jumat prayers and thanksgiving services will be held simultaneously across all state chapters and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at venues to be determined by the respective chapter leaderships.

The National President of SWAN, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, extended an invitation to government officials, sports enthusiasts, association members, and the general public to join in thanking God for SWAN’s six decades of impactful journalism and contribution to sports development in Nigeria.

 “It will also be an opportunity for us to collectively pray for the protection of members, better fortune for Nigeria’s sportsmen and women, and a more prosperous sports sector,” the statement added.

The SWAN Diamond Jubilee and Award Ceremony will also feature the association’s Full Council Meeting, comprising the National Executive Council, Zonal Vice Presidents, Secretaries, and State Chairmen and Secretaries.

All anniversary activities are scheduled to hold at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, from October 29 to October 31, 2025.
