BREAKING: PDP Governors Fintiri, Mutfwang Distance Themselves From Wike’s Purported Expulsion - The Alternative News

Two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have publicly dissociated themselves from the purported expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from the party.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, in a statement issued by his media aide, Gyang Bere, said he had no knowledge of, and did not consent to, the motion that announced the expulsion of Wike; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; former PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and several other party leaders.

According to the statement, Mutfwang clarified that the matter was neither discussed at the PDP Governors’ Forum nor deliberated upon at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting before being presented at the convention in Ibadan.

He stressed that the move does not reflect his position, warning that expelling leaders at such a critical moment is counterproductive to efforts to resolve the party’s internal crisis.

“Governor Mutfwang further noted that expelling the party leaders at this crucial time is not a strategic step toward resolving the internal challenges currently confronting the PDP,” the statement read.

He reiterated the need for unity, dialogue, and collective effort in rebuilding and repositioning the party.

Similarly, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, also distanced himself from the expulsion move.

In a statement posted on his official communication channels, Fintiri described the action as harmful to the party’s cohesion.

“I wish to categorically state that I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the PDP. I believe that this decision is not in the best interest of the party, and I will not be part of anything that could further plunge the PDP into unending crisis," he wrote.

Fintiri reaffirmed his commitment to peace, stability, and reconciliation within the party, urging stakeholders to work toward healing divisions rather than deepening them.

“As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP. I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration,” he stated.

Both governors called for unity, dialogue, and a renewed commitment to rebuilding the PDP amid growing internal tensions
