Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against seeking a meeting with United States President Donald Trump, warning that such an engagement could lead to “serious embarrassment” for Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode issued the warning on Friday while delivering a lecture at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in Akure, Ondo State. His remarks follow recent media reports suggesting that the Nigerian president was considering an official visit to the White House amid Trump’s controversial threat to “invade” Nigeria.

Describing Trump as “irrational, unpredictable and unbalanced,” the former minister said Tinubu risked walking into a diplomatically damaging situation.

According to him, Trump harbours “a pathological hatred for Africans, black and brown people, and Muslims,” adding that sitting with the U.S. leader under the current circumstances would be “ill-advised and dangerous.”

Fani-Kayode also introduced a religious dimension to his criticism, claiming Trump exhibits traits of what Pentecostal circles call a “Demastic anointing”, a condition he linked to the biblical character Demas, described as having fallen due to materialism.

“He has been afflicted with what those of us in Pentecostal circles describe as a ‘Demastic anointing’, named after Apostle Paul’s loyal disciple, Demas, who lost his way and fell,” he said.

The former minister urged Tinubu to avoid any move that could be interpreted as capitulation or desperation, insisting that Nigeria must safeguard its national dignity in the face of Trump’s recent comments.
