Teachers across the 3 Senatorial Districts of Ogun State have been urged to apply the knowledge gained during their recent training to enhance classroom delivery and improve learning outcomes.
The Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, gave the charge during a 5-day intensive School-Based Training for teachers at All Saints Anglican Primary School, Kobiti, Abeokuta.
The programme, organised by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with Ogun SUBEB was scheduled to hold in 32 centres across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
Represented by the Board’s Permanent Member IV, Rt. Hon. Akeem Balogun, Evangelist Ifede, said the training was designed to enhance teachers’ competence and strengthen the quality of basic education in Public Schools.
“We must ensure that this training translates into better classroom performance. The government has invested heavily in this initiative and we expect tangible results that will reflect in our learners’ performance,” he said.
Also speaking, Ogun State UBEC Coordinator, Mr. Sola Badmus, advised teachers to take full advantage of the opportunity, stressing that the impact of the training should be evident in their teaching methods and students’ academic outcomes.
Earlier, Director of Teachers’ Development, Mr. Kola Adagojo, described the training as a strategic investment in human capital, noting that participants were expected to become more effective and productive educators.
Contributing, Director of Academic and School Services, Mrs. Kehinde Anifowose, urged teachers to ensure that the knowledge gained was translated into improved classroom performance and better academic results.
One of the resource persons, Prof. Joseph Akinbode, encouraged teachers to take pride in their profession and rededicate themselves to advancing education in the State.
Participants, including the AOPSHON Chairman, Abeokuta South, Alhaji Tajudeen Adeosun and Mrs. Comfort Egunleti, commended the State government and UBEC for organising the training. They pledged to apply the lessons learned to raise teaching standards and enhance pupils’ performance.
Some of the centres visited during the exercise includedd; Christ Apostolic Church Lantoro; Muslim Primary School, Idofin Mokola and Army Children Primary School, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, among others.
