The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of fast-rising Nollywood actor and content creator Odira Nwobu.

News of his passing broke on Monday after blogger and fellow creator Awuzie Frankline announced the development in an emotional Facebook post. Frankline also shared a video showing the actor lying motionless, though no details were given regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to information obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, Nwobu died just hours after spending a night out at a club in South Africa over the weekend. A member of his team also confirmed his death to the newspaper in a phone call.

A visibly devastated Frankline posted several messages expressing shock and disbelief.

 “God, why! Odira, why leave us? The call I received now was not a good one. Odiegwu,” he lamented.

In another post, he recalled Nwobu’s vibrant personality and recent thanksgiving service.

 “You were full of life just some hours ago in South Africa, and you even had your thanksgiving service a few months ago. Many people came to celebrate with you. How can you return from South Africa lifeless? I am drowning in tears. Death is rude. I am heartbroken.”

Comedian Evan Okoro also reacted to the news, sharing a photo of the late actor with the caption:

“How? No… I can’t believe this. Nooooo.”

Odira Nwobu was known for his humorous online skits and roles in various Nollywood productions, earning him a steadily growing fanbase. His sudden death has sparked widespread grief, with colleagues, friends, and fans expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
