As part of measures to translate health policies into tangible actions and effectively guide the State’s healthcare delivery, the Ogun State government has disseminated its 2026 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) for the health sector.
Speaking during a dissemination meeting in Abeokuta with health stakeholders, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, said the State government had once again demonstrated consistency in ensuring that all players in the health sector work towards a shared goal, as reflected in the annual development and dissemination of the AOP.
The Commissioner, who described the AOP as a living document that steers healthcare delivery in the right direction, expressed gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his sustained commitment to qualitative and accessible healthcare for Ogun residents.
“As you are all aware, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has just presented the 2026 budget to the House of Assembly. I am glad to inform you that we have retained a 13% allocation of the budget for the health sector. If we judiciously utilise the N210.59 billion allocated to health, I am confident the sector will not remain the same,” she said.
While appreciating frontline health workers in the State for their continued dedication, the Commissioner urged them and all stakeholders, including development partners, to work towards achieving the stated goals in the AOP and address the gaps in the health needs of Ogun residents.
In his goodwill message, the State Coordinator of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Mr. Solape Folarin, congratulated Ogun State for prioritising planning as the first step towards effective resource utilisation and qualitative healthcare delivery, expressing optimism that the goals set for the coming year would be achieved.
On his part, representative of Management Sciences for Health (MSH), Mr. Ralph Chucks, urged the government to sustain its efforts to improve the State’s health indices, assuring that the organisation would continue to provide technical support.
