The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has expressed profound appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun, for approving the Grade Level 17 for public primary school teachers in the State, describing the decision as historic, progressive and unprecedented.
Speaking with newsmen in his office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Chairman of the Board, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, noted that the approval marked a significant milestone in the drive to improve teachers’ welfare and accord the profession the recognition it truly deserved.
According to him, “For many years, educators in the public basic education sector had aspired to career progression that reflected their experience, qualifications, and invaluable contributions to human capital development, therefore, by addressing the long-standing concerns of teachers, the Governor has once again shown responsiveness to the needs of workers and a deep understanding of the pivotal role educators play in shaping the future of the State,” he said.
He noted that Governor Abiodun’s approval further demonstrated his administration’s unwavering commitment to education as a critical driver of socio-economic growth.
Also speaking, Board Secretary, Mr. Olubori Akinleye, reaffirmed that the approval of Grade Level 17 has renewed hope, boosted morale and strengthened motivation among teachers in public primary schools across the State.
Akinleye stated that the decision would enhance productivity, professionalism and re-dedication to duty, while it would also attract and retain qualified teaching personnel within the system.
He assured teachers and other stakeholders that SUBEB remained fully committed to working closely with relevant Ministries, Agencies and organized labour to ensure a seamless and transparent implementation of the new grade level in line with established guidelines.
He reiterated the Board’s gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for the bold and visionary step, affirming its continued support for policies and initiatives that were always promoting teachers’ welfare and the sustainable development of education in Ogun State.
