Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged Nigerians to recognise the vast opportunities available within the country, stressing that success is achievable at home with discipline and hard work.

Umahi made the remarks while reflecting on the attitude of some Nigerians who travel abroad in search of greener pastures. He observed that many citizens who strictly obey rules and work diligently overseas often abandon those same values upon returning to Nigeria.

“Some Nigerians living abroad obey rules and traffic laws over there, but when they return home, they abandon those same practices,” the minister said. “If they put in the same level of hard work in Nigeria as they do abroad, they would succeed even 100 times better than overseas.”

He emphasised that Nigeria offers immense opportunities for growth and prosperity, noting that discipline, dedication, and commitment are key ingredients for success anywhere in the world.

Umahi encouraged Nigerians, especially the youth, to invest their talents, skills, and energy in the country rather than relying solely on foreign opportunities, assuring that meaningful success is attainable within Nigeria.
