The Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that political leaders in the state do not require governors to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
Wike made the assertion on Saturday during the inauguration of the Port Harcourt office of the organisation.
According to the minister, the group is fully committed to working for President Tinubu and possesses the political strength to operate independently without relying on any sitting governor.
“We are working for President Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilise us. We have what it takes to operate independently,” Wike said.
He noted that the group comprises influential political actors across party lines, including senators, members of the National and State Assemblies, local government chairmen, and party chairmen from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We have senators, Assembly members, local government chairmen, National Assembly members, and party chairmen of both APC and PDP,” he added.
Wike explained that the mobilisation effort was driven by personal conviction rather than external influence, stressing that genuine political support must be voluntary.
“We have mobilised ourselves to demonstrate our commitment because true support doesn’t need to be brought by someone, you have to make the commitment yourself,” he said.
He further stated that the display of unity at the event underscored the resolve of political leaders in Rivers State who have voluntarily pledged their support to President Tinubu.
