The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finalised the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, despite delays in the passage of the amended Electoral Act currently before the National Assembly.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja during a meeting with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

He said the commission had already submitted its proposals to the National Assembly but acknowledged that certain aspects of the election schedule might be affected depending on when lawmakers pass the amended Electoral Act.

According to him, INEC has no option for now but to conduct its activities based on the provisions of the existing Electoral Act.
