The Chairman of Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for rewarding the overall Best Primary School Teacher in Nigeria, Mr. Francis Solanke, describing the recognition as a trait of the present administration’s attribute in rewarding what is notable.
Speaking, in an interactive session with journalists in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ifede attributed Solanke’s achievement to the State Government’s sustained investment in basic education.
Evangelist Ifede reminded the journalists that Mr. Solanke, a teacher at Ansar-ud-Deen Main School, Kemta-Ilawo in Abeokuta North Local Government Area was given a two-bedroom bungalow and a brand-new car donated by the Federal Government after he emerged as the Overall Best Primary School Teacher in Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session, a feat described as phenomenon.
“This is not the first time he has achieved this feat. Mr. Solanke has represented the State before and won. Not only him, we still have other brilliant teachers in our public primary schools who can also represent the State excellently,” he said.
He noted that Solanke had written his name in gold among distinguished teachers from Ogun State who had earned national honors, advising him to give back meaningfully to his school.
The SUBEB chairman also lauded the Governor for improving teachers’ welfare, including prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements adding that working tools such as tablets had been provided to ease teaching, while massive construction and rehabilitation projects had commenced in public primary schools across the State.
He commended teachers in the State for their dedication and assured them of adequate security, stressing that the reward for hard work is on the horizon.
