The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has delivered a strongly worded birthday message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he marks his 74th birthday.

In a statement shared on Sunday via his X handle, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, criticised the current administration over what he described as worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and escalating fuel prices.

Abdullahi alleged that fuel prices have surged by nearly 500 per cent under Tinubu’s leadership, making transportation increasingly unaffordable for many Nigerians. He also raised concerns about the country’s security situation, noting Nigeria’s position on the Global Terrorism Index and the continued loss of lives to violent attacks.

The ADC spokesperson further accused the administration of failing to adequately address insecurity, claiming that the government’s rhetoric at times downplays the severity of the crisis.

On the economic front, Abdullahi said the cost of living has risen sharply, arguing that the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda has yet to translate into tangible relief for citizens.

He also warned of what he described as a shrinking political space, suggesting that recent developments could steer Nigeria toward a one-party system if not checked.

Despite the criticism, Abdullahi framed the message as a call for reflection, urging the President to prioritise effective governance in what he described as his final year in office.

 He concluded by wishing Tinubu good health while calling for improved leadership and a stronger sense of responsibility toward Nigerians.
