‘Daddy GO’ Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minor in Anambra | The Alternative News

An evangelist identified as Favour Ezani has been arrested in Anambra State over allegations of sexual abuse involving a 16-year-old girl in Nnewi.

The suspect, who claims to be the General Overseer of a Pentecostal church, was apprehended by operatives of the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), a state security outfit, following a report filed by a concerned resident.

According to officials, the teenager was taken to the suspect’s residence in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area, for spiritual intervention. The case came to light after a relative discovered she was pregnant and raised the alarm.

The spokesperson of the security outfit, Karen James, confirmed that the victim has been placed under protective care, while the suspect remains in custody pending further investigation.

Authorities say the matter has been transferred to the police for possible prosecution, given the gravity of the allegations, which involve a minor.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect allegedly exploited the situation under the guise of spiritual healing. Investigators are also examining claims that substances were administered to the victim, raising additional health and safety concerns.

The Anambra State Government is yet to issue an official statement, but advocacy groups have called for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim.

The incident has renewed concerns over the activities of unregulated religious centres and the vulnerability of minors in such environments. Stakeholders are urging stricter oversight and public awareness to prevent similar occurrences.

Support organisations have also appealed for medical and psychological assistance for the victim, while encouraging members of the public to report suspected abuse cases to relevant authorities.
