 By Gafar Alabi

Chairman of Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede, has charged members of the Association of Primary School Teachers of Nigeria (APSTON) to instill confidence and boldness in Pupils of Public Primary Schools across the state to enhance academic excellence.

Ifede gave the charge while receiving the newly elected executives of the association at the Board Secretariat Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He noted that when learners are bold and confident enough to express themselves, they are better positioned to perform optimally in their various classes.

The SUBEB Chairman emphasised that basic education remains compulsory for every child to excel in their chosen careers, stressing that the government is investing heavily in the education sector urging teachers to see themselves as priceless assets in the system and to reciprocate the Government’s gesture through dedication and improved performance.

He also encouraged them to continually upgrade their professional skills, particularly in modern teaching methods, assuring them of the state government’s support at all times.

In his contribution, Permanent Member IV of the Board, Rt. Hon. Akeem Balogun, stated that under the leadership of Evangelist Ifede, the Board had witnessed significant transformation since assuming office, enjoining teachers to prioritize the academic performance of their learners above association matters and to cascade the Board’s message to their colleagues.

Earlier in his remarks, President of APSTON, Comrade Oluwaseun Salisu, said the visit was aimed at formally introducing new executives to the management and strengthening existing synergy between the association and the Board.

He commended SUBEB for its efforts towards improving education sector in the state, assuring that teachers would continue to discharge their duties diligently.
