Mohamed Salah has announced he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025–26 season, concluding a nine-year spell at Anfield.
The forward made the announcement in a video posted on social media on Tuesday, describing his time at the club as “the best” of his career and thanking supporters, teammates, and staff for their support.
Liverpool confirmed the development in an official statement, noting that the player had agreed to end his tenure after the current campaign. The club said Salah opted to make his decision public early out of respect for fans.
Signed from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him among the club’s top scorers. During his time at Liverpool, he has won major honours including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Salah, who recently signed a contract extension, has experienced a dip in form this season, registering 10 goals across all competitions. He also had a brief fallout with head coach Arne Slot earlier in the campaign but was later reinstated.
The 32-year-old is currently sidelined with injury, with uncertainty over his availability for upcoming fixtures, including an FA Cup clash against Manchester City.
Liverpool said further tributes to Salah’s contributions would be made later in the year
