The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria for a single four-year term.
The resolution was reached at the party’s maiden National Convention, where a motion moved by Afam Victor Ogene, representing Ogbaru Constituency of Anambra State in the 10th National Assembly, was adopted by delegates.
The party further resolved that after the single four-year tenure, the presidential ticket would automatically be zoned to Northern Nigeria.
The decision is expected to open the contest to southern aspirants, including former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and others interested in vying for the party’s presidential ticket.
