The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the commencement of the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for aspirants seeking elective positions ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Moses Zuwoghe, national chairman, and Ikenna Enekweizu, national secretary, the party disclosed that the sale of expression of interest forms will begin on May 13 and end on May 18, 2026.
The party stated that screening and interviews for aspirants are scheduled to hold between May 19 and May 21, 2026. It explained that the screening exercise will determine eligibility for the purchase of nomination forms, urging aspirants to attend with all relevant credentials and supporting documents.
According to the timetable, the sale of nomination forms will commence immediately after the screening exercise, running from May 21 to May 23, while completed forms must be submitted on or before May 25, 2026.
The party added that appeals arising from the screening process will be entertained between May 25 and May 26, while primary elections for various elective offices are slated for May 27 and May 28.
The NDC said its presidential primary election will take place on May 29, 2026, in Abuja.
It further noted that aspirants seeking seats in state houses of assembly will be screened in their respective states, while screening for national assembly and presidential aspirants will be conducted at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Governorship primaries, the party said, will be held at the local government level.
The statement emphasised that all aspirants must sign an undertaking in line with the party’s guidelines and code of conduct. It also assured members of a transparent, inclusive, and democratic process, noting that the party will adopt the open secret ballot system to enhance credibility and fairness.
On fees, the party said expression of interest and nomination forms for state houses of assembly aspirants cost N1 million and N1.5 million, respectively. For the house of representatives, the fees are N2 million and N4 million, while senate aspirants are to pay N3 million and N5 million, respectively.
Governorship aspirants will pay N10 million for expression of interest forms and N20 million for nomination forms, while presidential aspirants are required to pay N20 million and N40 million, respectively.
The party added that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities will enjoy discounts of 50 percent and 25 percent, respectively, across all categories.
