Osun 2026: ADC Candidate Promises Stable Electricity If Elected - The Alternative News

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Najeem Salaam, has pledged to prioritise stable electricity supply if elected.

Salaam made the commitment while featuring on a political programme, Oro Oselu, aired on Uniq FM in Ilesa.

In a statement issued by his media office in Osogbo on Tuesday, the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly said his campaign is focused on governance, development, and policies that will improve the living conditions of residents, rather than engaging in political distractions.

He noted that while some politicians resort to verbal attacks for attention, he has been engaging investors and stakeholders in the power sector to find lasting solutions to the persistent electricity challenges affecting homes, businesses, and industries across the state.

According to Salaam, stable electricity is critical to economic growth, industrial expansion, job creation, and the survival of small and medium-scale enterprises.

He assured that his administration would prioritise tackling the state’s energy challenges through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions aimed at improving power generation and distribution.

He emphasised that meaningful development cannot thrive in an environment with poor electricity supply, adding that residents deserve leadership driven by vision, peace, and practical solutions.

Meanwhile, other contenders in the forthcoming election have continued to unveil their policy directions. The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, recently introduced a seven-point agenda tagged ‘PROSPER’.

The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been implementing his five-point agenda focused on workers’ welfare, education, infrastructure and security since assuming office on November 27, 2022.
