The Obidient Movement has called for calm among its supporters amid growing speculation over a possible political realignment involving Peter Obi and other opposition figures.
In a statement shared on X, the National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, said Obi is currently engaged in consultations with political allies and stakeholders to determine “the most strategic and effective path forward” for Nigerians.
“The Obidient Movement acknowledges the growing concerns and widespread reports regarding recent political developments and evolving engagements with current and potential partners,” the statement said.
The group urged its supporters, popularly known as Obidients, to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified reports.
“We urge all Obidients to remain calm, patient, and focused. Do not be swayed by speculative reports. Peter Obi remains fully committed to this mission and will, in due course, formally address the movement and the general public,” it added.
According to the statement, ongoing consultations are guided by principles of integrity, accountability, and citizen participation, stressing that any eventual decision would align with the vision of a “New Nigeria.”
The development comes amid reports of a possible alliance involving Obi and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the next election cycle.
Sources have also linked the discussions to a proposed political platform reportedly associated with Seriake Dickson, although no official confirmation of defection plans has been made.
The speculation follows internal challenges within opposition parties, including leadership disputes influenced by recent court rulings, which have contributed to uncertainty over future political alignments.
