Court Orders Arrest of Ex-Minister Uche Nnaji Over Alleged Certificate Forgery - The Alternative News

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, over alleged certificate forgery.

The order followed an ex parte motion filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1160/2026.

Delivering the ruling on Thursday, the court granted the ICPC’s request for a warrant of arrest after the commission informed the court that Nnaji had repeatedly failed to honour its invitations for questioning.

Counsel to the commission, Osuobeni Akponimisingha, told the court that the application became necessary due to Nnaji’s refusal to cooperate with ongoing investigations into allegations that he falsified his academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials.

The ICPC also sought, and obtained, approval to declare the former minister wanted across national newspapers, social media platforms, and other public channels.

In addition, the court authorised law enforcement operatives, as well as private citizens, to identify and apprehend Nnaji and hand him over to the commission for investigation.

The court ruled that the arrest warrant would remain in effect until the former minister is apprehended.

Nnaji, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023, had earlier resigned from office following the emergence of the allegations.

He recently emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 elections.
