The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria have indicated plans to embark on a nationwide strike in protest against the worsening insecurity in the country.
President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, made this known on Monday in Geneva during the ongoing International Labour Conference.
The labour centres also urged the Federal Government to commence the process of renegotiating the National Minimum Wage, which is expected to be reviewed by July next year.
They further rejected any move to legislate a new wage structure, insisting that negotiations remain the appropriate mechanism for arriving at an acceptable minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
More details to follow.
